Being a military child, I have moved numerous times throughout my life, eight to be exact. With each move, I am exposed to various environments and people. Moving requires a person to overcome many challenges, and by being courageous, I have successfully conquered multiple. Courage has shaped my life by helping me create new friendships and adjust to new places.
I have gained many new friendships by being courageous. Moving to a new place means being around new people. Although this situation may be overwhelming and intimidating, it provides an opportunity to talk to others and build friendships. By being courageous, I have built the confidence to approach others to attempt to initiate conversations. I now have multiple friends in various states and I continue to stay in contact with them. While leaving friends is hard, I now enjoy meeting people from different places because I have courage.
Along with creating new friendships, courage has helped me adjust to new places. With every move, I have to adapt to a new house, new environment, new school, …basically, new everything! Even though these new adjustments can be extremely stressful and nerve-wracking, I have learned how to handle them. By researching a place before I move there, I focus on the positives of moving and try to look forward to the new adventures. Being brave has taught me to take advantage of the opportunities available, which has allowed me to learn about multiple places and experience various cultures.
Overall, being courageous has shaped me into a better person. I have met numerous great people from different areas and have learned to appreciate every journey I embark on with each new move. Recently, my dad retired from the military, so I am living in Missouri until I finish school, but I can’t wait to see what the next place offers me. By helping me create new friendships and adjust to new places, courage has shaped my life.
