Some ask, “Why do we have to have courage when being a military child?” Well, ‘courage’ is defined as, “The quality of mind or spirit that enables a person to face difficulty.” Being a military child takes courage because of constant family relocation, parents going out of town for duty (even for war), and the necessity of resiliency of being a military child.

Moving everywhere can be sad and frustrating, it takes courage! You leave your friends, go to a brand new school, and you don’t know anybody there. It takes courage to start again and get used to your new home. But as you face your sadness and frustration, think about this, you might not realize how fun it might be. It is also a privilege to visit so many places where everybody wants to go. For example someone says “Japan is the place I’ve always wanted to go to!!!!” And you say “Oh I went there.” You also have the privilege for your house. The military pays for your house. It is important to have the courage to move several times because if you don’t you will not enjoy that your dad or mom is in the military to save lives or fight for your country.

When your mom or dad leaves the country for duty, it can be very sad and overwhelming. But think about this, your parents defend your country at all times. Your parents go out for war to protect your country, and in a way, they do it to protect you! So military children need courage to support their parents as their parents support them. Doing so will encourage military parents to take one step forward.

Being courageous is very necessary when you’re a military child. When one of your parents goes off to war, there is so much to do at home. It’s important to help out the parent who stays home to take care of you. Help them out because being the parent left at home can be overwhelming because the other parent also has daily chores. Since the parent is gone, somebody has to help out. It takes courage to stand up and start helping out. However, always think about the bright side. Now you have more responsibilities and responsibilities definitely prepare you for when you get older.

As you can clearly see, being a military child takes courage because of constant family relocations, parents going out of town for duty, and the necessity of being resilient. Still, being a military child is also fun once you take a step forward and start having courage at all costs. So go ahead, be courageous and take a step forward!
