Courage is like a superpower everyone has inside them, but not all the time do we see it
because it can be pretty sneaky. Imagine courage as the bravery to do something even
when you’re scared. It’s like when you’re standing at the edge of the diving board,
looking down into the water, and deciding to jump even though it’s a bit scary. Being
brave, standing up for what is right, and facing your fears is courage.
For example, one time, I had to be really brave. I didn’t brush my teeth before bed, even
though I know it’s important. I was worried because I love hearing bedtime stories from
my dad, and I knew if I told him the truth, there might not be a story that night. But, I
decided to tell him the truth anyway because it was the right thing to do. That was an
example of courage because even though I was scared of losing my bedtime story, I
chose to be honest.
Courage can be hard because it means doing something that makes you feel
uncomfortable. Sometimes being brave might upset others like if what you’re doing is
different than what they believe. It is risky because you can lose things that are
important to you. Like, when I told my dad the truth, I could have lost my bedtime story,
which was really important to me. Courage means you’re willing to take a risk because
you know it’s for a good reason.
Courage is super important because, without it, lots of good changes wouldn’t happen.
It’s something special inside all of us and it shows up when we need to do the right
thing. With courage, you can stand up for yourself and others, make big changes in the
world, and be true to yourself.
