Courage
Courage is facing something you’re afraid of. Showing courage could be hard for some people that are scared to face their fears. For some people they face courage everyday, for example my Dad goes out on a boat for about sixty days and goes near the Panama Canal to look for boats that have bad people
trying to transport illegal substances to where they have to drop it off at.
Whenever they get to the boats they have to be careful to make sure there aren’t any weapons so that they don’t get harmed, then they sink the boat and take the people and whatever was on the boat with them. This may not be what someone would choose to do for a job, but many people like my Dad do this job for a living which takes courage to do because many people are afraid to have to worry about the cartel or having to carry a weapon around with them to protect themselves.
Coast Guard is one of many jobs that demonstrate courage. Another
example of courage is having to go to a new school where you don’t know anyone. “You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing you think you cannot do” (Eleanor Roosevelt). This explains that the only way to get over something that you really don’t want is to show courage. I have been to four different schools in my life and every time I go to a new school I have to show courage because it’s hard to walk into a place full of people you don’t know. Over
time you will feel comfortable with the people there and not have to be scared anymore.
In conclusion, courage is facing something that you are afraid of. Courage is important to people because even though it may be hard to show courage, we all eventually have to face it. This is why many people might show courage at
work or just in their regular day.
