Courage: by Mae Sandifer

Hi, what I think of when I hear the word courage is bravery. My dad has gone on four deployments. Those 4 deployments were wars. It was really scary, but I got through it. I was pretty lonely without him when he went on the Nine Month deployment. I was little then but he came back safely. Now I have my dog to comfort me whenever I need her. I remember the night when we picked my dad up from the airport. Though I was little so I had to have an early bedtime. The next morning me and my sisters came rushing down the stairs to actually see him, because we were asleep in the car the other night.

My family has had a very big move to Baumholder Germany. It was the longest plane ride I have ever been on. I HATED it, but my courage has led me through every scary time that I have had in my life. Though the plane ride back to America was way worse. Our plane got delayed three times. My family and me have moved five times in eight years. My courage has gotten bigger every time my family moves and more. Why I need courage when I move is because, a lot of our moves have either been a really long distance away from friends, or my family has stayed at that state for so long we love the state too much.

Me and my family have been through lots of hard things. In my opinion I think that the hardest part of being a Military child is, me being the youngest in my whole family. It’s really hard but, the more I get through it, the more courage I have. Sometimes I can be really scared, but any other time I have as much courage as I need. In Kansas there has been some really scary storms and Tornado watches, but my courage has led me through it.

I have gone through a lot as a military kid but my courage has always stayed with me.
